Mentor Text: Kid Cannabis: The Wild Rise and Violent Fall of a Teenage Weed Kingpin

I think it is crazy that in a world like the one we live in today, people can get away with things like this kid did. He was moving over $18 million worth of pot and it took several years for anyone to find out. The part that really stood out to me was at the end when he was sentenced to 12 years in prison after being caught selling large amounts of marijuana. It seems so crazy to me that someone can be put in prison for that long over a drug that is legal in several different states. I think this comes to show how our prison system is failing people over and over again. This article could have been taken in several different ways but that is the biggest thing that stood out to me.
