My Mentor Text Talk

This particular article is a review based on a concert attended by Elizabeth Phelps. She mentions why she wrote this review which is so important, not only for her, but the readers as well. Having an intention for your writing is what gives it depth and the ability to reach others. Elizabeth used her experience to write about the positivity that Lizzo is spreading. Her main focus is the comparison between Lizzo’s concert and attending church. She said that Lizzo preached messages of joy, self-love, and celebration. I chose to talk about this text because I think that writing a review about a personal experience is something we can all do. Being able to talk about something that you had the opportunity to experience is a skill that we all need in life. It is important to express your take on it and focus on what you feel is significant. For Elizabeth, this was the positivity that Lizzos concert “preaches”. She used several quotes from Lizzos performance to give examples of the things Lizzo said. She describes the value of Lizzos self-acceptance and how she spreads that to others. Not only is this a review, it is much more than that. It is working to spread body acceptance and self love to others. Using a personal experience to spread a larger message is very valuable when composing.
